First Ever Quilt Label

I started an Eye Spy quilt for my kids when I was pregnant with Mr. C - that was over 18 months ago!  My goodness does time ever go by quick.  I started back to work on this quilt a few months ago but then loathed the quilting I did on top and put it away for a few more months.  My girls saw it while I was organizing my sewing room on the weekend and they had a ton of fun playing eye spy with the quilt even though its not done.  That spurred me into action and in a few days I had the label done, the binding cut and partially hand sewn on.  One of these days I am going to seriously have to figure out the whole machine sewn binding, until then its hand binding for me!

I used a blanket stitch to add the label and since I didn't think of doing this until AFTER I had the full quilt sewn together you can see the blanket stitch on the front of the quilt.  You can see the blanket stitch on the front of the quilt but thankfully its on a really light eye spy square, it blends it rather well.  I wont do it that way again but it worked for this quilt.

I still have to finish 3/4 of the binding but its coming along nicely - hopefully I will have a 2013 finish soon that is bigger than a doll quilt!  ;)

Thanks for stopping by - see you soon!

Machine Quilting Epic FAIL

I started this evening out all excited since I was going to begin the machine quilting on my Eye Spy quilt.  I got a few bobbins on the go and went to town on doing the column quilting and now I am sitting here on the verge of tears HATING what I have done so far.....My lines are worse than a drunk monkey attempting sewing for the first time.

From far away its not so bad....

But get close up - DAMN - what the heck happened?!?!?!

Seriously it looks much worse in person.....

I have decided to push through and see how it looks with the other echoing done and if it STILL looks drunken monkey'esque I am going to attempt to cover it up or at least detract from it with attempting some FMQ in all the cream rectangles.  I figure by then nothing I do to it could make it worse so I might as well make it something interesting to look at!  I have done TOO much machine quilting to the quilt top to sit with a seam ripper for hours and hours and hours on end to rip it all out.

I'm sorry, I usually try to be positive and happy on my blog but after laying my quilt out and seeing the mess I created I feel so deflated and bummed.  Thankfully my kids will love it no matter how weird the quilting is but I know its all that I am going to see....grrrrrrr!

Ok - lets turn this into a learning experience for me........I know what happened - I'm not used to working with a quilt so big and it kept pulling, I am using a different batting (a poly batting that I have never used before and HATE and will never use again, its cotton batting only for this girl from now on), and I was in too much of a hurry to see the results.  There.  I have my reasons for my drunk monkey sewing BUT it still doesn't make me feel any better BUT I know that I can learn from this and hopefully I can keep the drunk monkey at bay so it doesn't make another appearance on my quilt tops anymore.

Thanks for stopping by - see you tomorrow (and I promise I won't be such a Debbie Downer...).

Eye Spy - Top finished!

I posted a few weeks ago about all of my UFO's that I have on the go (here) and it has totally helped to kick my butt in gear to get a move on with finishing some stuff up!

Domestic Handbag is done!  Hopefully I can post some pictures of that one later this month. - So that's 1 off the List!

I finished the top to the Eye Spy quilt this evening - its roughly 64x54 inches and I think I am just going to piece some flannel that I have in my stash to keep with the 'scrappy' look.  Plus its for the kids and flannel is super cozy!

The seams match up fairly well for how many squares there are although some seams that look like a drunk monkey was sewing them but the nice thing is since the quilt is SO busy you don't notice the off seams too much.  Once I have it quilted I'll show you some of my favourite squares.

I did mention that there were a few drunk monkey seams - it took a TON of trimming to get the rows un-wavy before I sew the top together.  I pieced most of this very off and on over the course of a few months last summer and fall and I know I didn't pay nearly as close attention as I should have, I paid for the lack of attention to detail in trimmings! Every quilt has a lesson to teach and apparently this quilts lesson is PAY ATTENTION to seam allowances....  ;)

Tomorrow I need to hit the LQS and pick up a package of batting since both packages that I currently have are too small and then I can work on piecing the backing together.  Hopefully I can get to doing the sandwich one night this week.

Thanks for stopping by - see you tomorrow.

Out of Control UFO's!!

I've said it once, I've said it twice and I'll probably keep repeating it until I'm on my last breath - I love STARTING a quilt.....I love picking out fabric, desiging the quilt top, I even really like piecing it together.  Usually thats where the love stops..... it stops when its time to quilt sandwich the darn thing and I just feel this huge weight drop on my shoulders (which is sad since I would think that one should be the exact opposite - that I should be embracing and LOVING the finishing aspect of a quilt).  Thats when I usually get sidetracked with more beautiful fabric, a new pattern and go off on my merry way starting yet another project.

I have decided to pull all my UFOs out of the bins, take picutres of them, and state what I have to accomplish on them and hopfully that will give me the kick in the butt that I need to get these projects done!  I was kind of shocked to see that I have 10  (TEN) UFOs and only two of them are small projects.  Four of them are crib/lap quilts and four are larger thow quilts.  (I had to edit that last sentence three times since I had originally only had 7 UFO's then I kept remembering that I had more WIP's stashed in the basement and one in the closet!).
  • First up is the Party Monster Quilt - My SIL started this quilt for her son but fell out of love with quilting and has decided to use her incredible crochet skills more.  This quilt has been sandwhiched and MOSTLY machine quilted in the ditch.  I probably have two hours of machine quilting and then sewing on the binding.  All and all not too hard when I write it down.  Must get to work on this since Mr C would probably LOVE it (and my nephew is too big for this quilt now and its too cute to go unloved), plus its too cute to be sitting in a box!

  • Next up - my First Christmas Table Runner.  All I have to do is sew the binding on.  That should take me an hour and It would be good to go for this Christmas.  Time to get started!

  • This is the Tumbling Rubies quilt - I started it when I was pregnant with my son but have got to the terrible 'how should I quilt it' stage and have no idea what to do so I just put it away.  I think I might do some stitching in the ditch but I was thinking some echo quilting could be very cool.  I might bring it to my next Guild meeting and see if they have any ideas for me!

  • This is my Dirty Thirties quilt -  I fell in LOVE with the sample at the quilt store and HAD to have it. I made the misake of caluclating how many small cuts/squares there are on my third day of working on it and immediately got overwhelmed and had to put it away.  I still love this quilt I think I just need to make a goal of getting one 4 block done a week. It won't be breakneck pace but it will be some sort of progress and I think thats what I need to help me move forward on this quilt without getting overwhelmed.   My goal of getting it done before I turned 31 is long gone (I just turned 32 this past September) but maybe I can get it done before I'm 35 or something!!

  • Eye Spy - this one isn't fully pieced together, I still have to sew the rows together and then put the outer boarder on the far right and bottom.  Once this gets sandwiched it will be easy peasy to stitch in the ditch and finish quick,  its just hunkering down and doing it!

  • This is the quilt that I started I was pregnant with my oldest (who is now 5). It was my second quilt that I ever made (or almost finished I guess I should say) I got all the way to having the binding finished but I never top quilted the middle section where the giraffe is and couldn't figure out what to do so I put it away.  This one makes me so sad, it was made for my first baby but was never finished and none of my kids got to enjoy it as babies.  Part of me thinks that Baby C is too big for it now,  but I would love for one of my kids to get to play on it and make some memories with something I made for them.

  • My other Christmas Table Runner - this top is now complete and hanging on my design wall waiting for me to figure out how I want to quilt it.  I think I am going to FMQ this one and hope for the best.  I would love to have this one done by the middle of November so we can enjoy it for the Christmas season.

  • This would be the Crazy Cat Quilt - sorry about the picture, I totally forgot about this quilt until I was writing this blog and I really didn't want to have to pull it out and assemble it so I grabbed a picture from a previous post (and it was a horribly lit picture, sorry!).  The plan for this quilt was to give it to my Mom and her husband as a housewarming gift for their new house - the problem is they moved into their house THREE years ago.  I messed up on this quilt so many times and it seemed like every time I had it out I was fixing a previous mistake and I got REALLY discouraged and put it away.  I think now that my quilting skills have gotten a little better my mistakes will be mitigated a little and the next time I bring it out I will be able to pece most of the top together which would be SO fanstic!  I know my Mom would love to have this quilt, I just need to get to work on it.

  • This is the Jungle Squares quilt that I gave to my neice last year for Christmas for us to start to work on together but we haven't had any time to make any progress on it.  This is another quilt that makes me sad, I really wanted to have this done with my neice a few months after Christmas last year but with living an hour apart and a CRAZY busy year its been forgotten about.  Part of me wants to just power through this quilt and finish it myself for her and tell her that we can work on something a little less difficult (minky is a total pain in the butt to sew with and its even harder if you are 10!!!) together as her first project. But then part of me desperately wants to spend time with my neice and teach her how to quilt.

  • Last but not least I have my Domestic Handbag quilt that I am working on for my SIL - the design is a surprise so I can't post pictures of it.  I was making amazing progress until I had to begin the quilt sandwich then my tape wouldn't stop breaking (to tape it to the floor) or peeling up.  I had to make a quick stop at the store to pick up some duct tape and I'm hoping to get to that quilt tonight.  This quilt is at the top of my 'to be finished' pile and I cannot wait to have it done and give it to my SIL.
So there you have it, my 10 project WIP/UFO projects. Now that I have outed myself on how many projects I have on the go I will be trying my best to get those all finished up before the new year.  That being said  I will be posting lots of "progress made" posts so hang in there because very soon I hope to have a bunch of FINISHED projects to show you!  Few things are more satisfing than a completed quilt!

Thanks for reading!  Please help keep me accountable by asking how different projects are coming if I havent posted about them in a while!

Eye Spy - Rows Complete!

Wow, its amazing what can get done in a night when Mr. Quiltapotamus is working the night shift, Mr. C actually goes to bed at a really decent time and my girls don't continuously get out of bed for a drink, snuggle, extra toy....that sort of thing!  ;)

Yesterday I posted a picture of some of my Eye Spy blocks that I had up on my design wall and I was hoping to get a little bit done last night.  I actually managed to get all the rows assembled and I am SO pleased with myself (even if that did mean that I skipped out on working out to sew....bad me!!) and how it turned out.

The quilt has10 rows with 8 blocks per row. I still have to cut the extra boarder squares and rectangles so the black and white boarder goes around the entire quilt (rather than just the top and left hand side!).

I'm trying to decide if I want to do a plain cream 4-6" boarder around the quilt or just square it up, make a quilt sandwich and then put the binding right onto the black and white boarder.  Part of me just wants this quilt done so I might not do the boarder at all and that should help me get this thing finished a little faster!  ;)

Thoughts anyone?!

Blogtoberfest Day ONE!

Yeay, its day #1 of Blogtoberfest and I did manage to find the sign up sheet a few days ago!

Kat @ I saw you dancing is hosting Blogtoberfest this year and as of this morning it looks like there are  192 bloggers signed up for it (I'm number 45!!) so far.  I did it last year and it was fun to try to figure out what to blog about for a month straight.  I'm hoping to have at least half my posts be sewing related but the other half are going to be whatever I can think of at 11:50 at night I'm sure!

I've brought out my Eye Spy quilt from the depths of my WIP pile and I'm hoping that I can get a little bit of work done on this to help break up the frustration that I am getting from my Domestic Handbag quilt!  I find few things as frustrating as a quilt that wont cooperate so I find the best thing for me to do is put it away for a few days (weeks/months/years - whatever it takes) so I don't feel like trashing the thing and can come back and objectively work through whats wrong with the quilt!

I've had this quilt on the go for a while and started other projects and this one got forgotten about - when I brought out all the blocks my kids went CRAZY for it.  I've decided to make it a little smaller than I had orginally planned but at least I have all the blocks done and I can just sit and chain sew, and sew, and sew, and sew.....for a few nights and get the top assembled.

Hopefully I can get some sewing in after the kidlets go to bed tonight!  My 1 year old likes to get into EVERYTHING so I find not much can get done when hes awake!  Little monster...!

Until tomorrow.

Eye Spy Progress - almost done!!!

Its been a while but I actually made some progress on the kids Eye Spy quilt!

I don't have it sewn together yet (the picture below is just me laying it out) but once I get the next 16 or so blocks cut up and sewn and put on the bottom I'll start playing with the fabric placement.  Unfortunatley for me that means attempting to do some 'random' pattern placement which I am HORRIBLE with!  Time to let go of my 'random' OCD and let the fabric falls where it will and get this awesome blanket pieced!

Don't you just love 'playroom' pictures with all the kids stuff in the corners of the pictures?!?!  ;)

Oh well, no matter what happens with the fabric placement I know the kids are going to LOVE this quilt.  We have already spent a few hours looking at all the fabric together as I have been piecing the quilt top and they are really looking forward to being able to 'finding' all the different patterns, colors and animals when its all put together.

On a side note we've been able to hit 4 more parks bringing our total up to 5 parks for our 150 Park Challenge (and I'm quickly realizing that there is NO WAY we are going to be able to hit that many parks this summer - but I'll try to hit as many as we possibly can).  If it didn't snow all weekend we would have been able to hit a few more but thats ok its supposed to be +10C tomorrow!!  Hooray for Spring!

A little more Eye Spy Goodness.....

Another day and I managed to get another few minutes of sewing in - every little bit counts right?!?!?  At least thats what I keep telling myself!

I got 28 more Eye Spy squares done with a little help from Miss S.

I think all together I have somewhere between 60-80 squares completed so far.

I'll lay them all out tomorrow and see how many more I need to have done to make even rows and start the squaring up process so I can start sewing the rows together.  Originally I wasn't going to square each one up but I know that some of my seams are off so I might as well do it RIGHT the first time rather than just winging it and hating what I have done.

Day 15 of the Quiltapotamus 365 Project is in the books - not bad if I say so myself!!

More Eye Spy Updates

I'm beginning to feel like a broken record - another day another Eye Spy Quit update!  So here I am, with yet another - you guessed it - and Eye Spy update!

I have three nine patches all ready to be cut into the turning 9 squares:

I managed to do 11 of the top strips.

I got 11 of the bottom strips done

That leaves me with putting the 11 sets together and then I'll have another big batch of the squares matched up and ready to go!

This whole trying to sew for 15 minutes every day (and blog about it) is really keeping me accountable and its been fantastic.  Plus it helps keep me sane when all I'm working with are 4 inch squares and sometimes that can make anyone a little squirrily!!

1/2 Way done the quilt top!

Its been a little over a week of working on the Eye Spy Quilt for my kids for a little bit here and there and I'm a little ore than 1/2 way done it!!  I'm planning on using all 120 quilt blocks that I got from the Eye Spy swap that I signed up for but I'm thinking that I'll use some of those blocks to piece the back and keep it interesting for the kids.

I'm super happy with it so far - the kids are going to love it!!!

Hopefully I'll be able to keep at it every night or every other night for the next week or two and have the quilt top done.  From there I'm not sure how I'm going to make the quilt sandwich since I don't have a space big enough to lay out the quit to pin it and I certainly don't have a big enough space to try out the spray glue technique that I've read about so I'm a little concerned this top is going to languish in the 'WIP' pile!   Time to start figuring that out since I REALLY want to get this quilt done and give it to my kids since they keep asking when the 'fun blanket' will be finished.

Four Days in a Row - Go ME!

So my Quiltapotamus 365 Project is getting off to a fabulous start - four days in a row of sewing has actually been accomplished AND I'm making a serious dent in my Eye Spy quilt progress.  If I can keep this up I just might have the quilt top done in a week or so.

I absolutely LOVE the look of a work in progress quilt - it fills me with joy!

I kept messing up on a few of my squares so I made my own little cheat sheet so I would limit my mistakes to the absolute minimum:

I'm sure to anyone else it doesn't make a lick of sense but it was nice to be able to glance up at it and make sure I wasn't sewing the right square to the wrong side or the wrong direction.

I'm off to go downstairs to get a little bit more sewing done before I head up to bed.  Hopefully I'll be able to add to my little WIP pile.

Sickness and a little bit of Sewing.....

The sickness bug has struck our house and has knocked Miss S out for the count.  Yesterday she woke up with a sore throat, I told her that if her throat was sore she would be staying home from school.  Miraculously her throat got much better after that so we went to school a few hours later.  As soon as her teacher opened the door at pickup today she said Miss S was complaining of a sore throat all class (little turkey lied to me so she could go to school).  I took her temperature and it was pretty high - fast forward to this morning - and skip over the barfing last night and she had taken a turn for the worse.  Poor thing was all splotchy and super warm so we made a family trip to the doctors to get her checked out and she has Scarlett Fever, which is essentially strep throat with a body rash.

Needless to say we picked up lots of juice, ice cream, popsicles and soup so we should be set for the next few more days at home since she's contagious and we don't want to get anyone else sick.

You need to squint to read it - but that does say 102.6F
The one nice thing about a sick kid is they want to be mellow, and the nice thing about sewing is the fact that it IS pretty mellow and its the perfect thing to give a mellow kid is fabric to organize!!!  I had Miss S help me with my Eye Spy fabric today when Miss L was napping (Baby C hung out with us too and 'supervised') and we managed to get a little bit done before heading out to the doctors.

We went from 8 squares with boarders to 12 - its not a ton but at least its progress and it was awesome to get some sewing done with Miss S helping me.

She also helped me with fabric selection - all the squares on the left she picked out of the pile for me to sew in the strips.

Hopefully the medication will help Miss S out and I'll have my rambunctious little girl back soon, until then I'll cherish my calm little sewing buddy the next few days.

****On a totally different note my 1 year blogging anniversary is coming up this weekend and I've decided to celebrate with my very first giveaway!!  Stay tuned for more info!!!****

Friday Night Sew In - I actually Sewed!!

Another Friday Night Sew In is in the books and thankfully I got to work on a little bit of my Eye Spy quilt (I wrote this last night but fell asleep before I posted it, hence why I keep saying tonight instead of last night throughout the post).

I left Baby C (whos almost 5 months and not so little anymore!) to sleep on Daddy while he watched the Barrett Jackson Auction on Tv for a little bit so I could get a little bit of sewing done in the peace and quiet and I can honestly say that an hour of quilting was EXACTLY what I needed to get my head on a little straighter.  I've been feeling horribly guilty for not touching my sewing at all in what feels like months but between finishing a basement, Christmas, a family vacation to Disney World for 10 days and life with three little kids it seems like sewing is beyond the last thing that I can find time for.  Being able to sit down and get even a little bit of sewing done (I got an hour in before Baby C needed mommy for food) was so awesome.

I think my major downfall when it comes to sewing is that I tend to 'wing it' a little too much - tonight was no exception.  I'm the type of person that wants IMMEDIATE SATISFACTION and I want to see the finished product after I've been working on a quilt for 5 minutes.  Rather than sitting down and doing the math for how many squares I need to do each part of the quilt I did a few of each step so I could see how its going to turn out.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it bites me in the butt.  Tonight thankfully I only screwed up on one square (and really whats a quilt without at least ONE screw up?!?!  ;)) and since its an eye spy quilt I figure it will blend in, or I'll just put it somewhere near the bottom and hope the kids don't notice!

I got a whopping 8 squares done tonight, its more than what I've done in the past month so I'll take it.  Hopefully I'll be able to sit down and get some more sewing done this weekend - its good for the soul.

Eye Spy Fabric Playing

I think I should start to call this blog the Purple Planningapotamus or the Purple Processapotamus since it doesn't feel like I ever finish anything lately - I just keep posting about projects that I have on the go or fabric that I've got.   Hopefully that will change once the basement is finished and I can have all my sewing stuff in one area instead of in the garage, upstairs, on the main floor and anywhere else it seems to get hidden around the house!  We are getting carpet on Thursday so its only a few more days until we can move ALL the stuff back into the basement (including the girls toys so they can have a place to play again....I'm not sure whos more excited about them having their own space back, them or me!).

Anyways, I thought I'd do a tester square for my Nine Patch Eye Spy Quilt since it never fails that I manage to mess stuff up the first time I do something and I'd rather not mess up my new fabric that I got from the Eye Spy Swap!

After reading through the directions again (and again and again...) at Obsessively Stitching I decided to give it a go and this is what I came up with as my tester squares:

I took the picture after I cut the centre squares - I couldn't wait to see how it looked!

Just a little turn here and there and it looks like this:

I'm even MORE excited to get going on this quilt now that I have a good idea how to do the placement of the eye spy squares.  Maybe I'll get a little more sewing in tonight when the wee ones go to bed and its just Baby C and I hanging out.

Sorry again for the missed days in posting lately - I loved the Blogtoberfest thing but during the last few weeks it seems like life with three little people and a shift working husband has caught up to me and I can't seem to get on top of ANYTHING let alone sewing.   I've got a ton of projects buzzing around in my head and not nearly enough time to get them all done (or the laundry, vacuuming, dishes, sweeping, shovelling.......).

Thanks for sticking with me and visiting my blog, hopefully I'll be able to get back into the sewing/blogging groove in the next little bit.

Eye Spy Quilt top Planning!

I know I only got my fabric from the Eye Spy swap two days ago but I seriously couldn't help busting it out this afternoon and seeing almost all the fabric laying out together and trying to decide how big I want the quilt to be.

Originally I thought I'd love to make each of the kids their on Eye Spy quilt but then it dawned on me that I'd have THREE of the suckers lying around my house!  Not that I wouldn't love three of them I just  know that I'd love a big one even more!  Plus then I can throw all the 'girl' and 'boy' specific fabrics into one giant quilt and all three kids will have a ton of fun with it.

Miss S and I laid out almost all the squares - its gonna be one BIG quilt!  I think I decided on 11 rows and 10 columns.  I had a vision of how I wanted it to turn out but I couldn't quite figure out how to type it so I googled Eye Spy quilts and came up with this post from Obsessively Stitching and its EXACLY how I want my Eye Spy quilt to turn out!!

Getting back to my quilt we laid out all the squares and I think its going to look super cute!

After Miss S and I laid out all the squares Miss L wanted to get in on the action so we busted out the 6 inch squares that I got from  A Girl and A Glue Gun's Etsy Shop (she also has a blog with uber uber cool stuff on it - you can see it HERE.  Anyways Miss L laid out a bunch of squares and kept laughing at all the different patterns.  It was super cute!

My little quilter in the making!!!

Hopefully we'll be getting carpet in our basement in the next few days and then its trim then onto my SEWING NOOK so I can actually get some sewing stuff done!  I've got my Tumbling Rubies quilt top that needs to be pinned and some serious Eye Spy fabric to sew plus I have the Crazy Cat Quilt haunting my dreams since I haven't touched it in far too long!!

Eye Spy Mail Received!!

Oh happy day!  The family and I took a drive today and as we were leaving the house we stopped at the mail box and much much much to my delight my eye spy fabric that Sandra at Sew In Peace was there!!  Yippie.  I'm glad that my wonderful husband was driving so I could flip through all the squares and I did just that.

The swap was for 120 5 inch squares - and what a swap it was!!  There was monsters, horses, dogs, cats, bumble bees, dragonflys, fruits, vegetables, boots, kids, jelly beans, cherries, telephones, crayons, fire hydrants, teddy bears, fish, chicks, lions, cars......a TON of different fabric!

Another stack of fabric....

And another stack of fabric.....!

All the squares together  - what a lovely sight!

I have to say a BIG thank you to Sandra again at Sew In Peace for organizing this swap - THANK YOU!! ;)   I also need to say thank you to all the other swappers that contributed all the amazing fabric - my children and I are going to have hours and hours and hours of enjoyment together looking at all the fabrics that will be pieced together into our family Eye Spy Quilt.

I've got MAIL!!

A few weeks ago I signed up for the Eye Spy fabric swap hosted by Sandra at Sew In Peace and turned into an eye spy fabric MONSTER.  Suddenly they were the absolute coolest quilts out there and I needed more fabric even though I had 120 5 inch squares coming my way at the end of the swap - yes sometimes I have fabric OCD and this was one of those times!!   I wound up visiting A Girl and A Glue Gun and just as I was on my Eye Spy fabric hunt I saw she had a listing in her Etsy shop for two sets of 50 6 inch eye spy squares for a super good deal that I just couldn't pass up!!

Miss S and I walked to the mail box this afternoon and I was SO excited to see a big beautiful package in the mail!  I wasn't sure if it was the Fabric Swap fabric from Sandra or the Etsy fabric from Kimbo @ A Girl and a Glue Gun but I quickly figured out it was the Etsy fabric - needless to say Miss S and I walked faster on the way home than we did on the way to the mail box to check out all the fabric!!

Kimbo even wrapped the fabric up in pretty paper so it was like opening my very own present of fabric - the best present of all!  ;)

100 glorious squares in all different patterns: turkeys, soccerballs, trick or treat, cupcakes, cats, race cars, carrots, lemonaid, dogs, bowling pins, robots, puzzle pieces and a ton of different other fabrics were in the package and Miss S and I spent at least a half an hour going through them all and me quizzing her on what was in each fabric.

I CANNOT WAIT for the fabric swap fabric to come in - 120 more squares of fabric goodness to go through with the girls and get to work making a large throw quilt for all the kids to play on.  I have a feeling I'll be making more than one of these quilts for the kids since they'll probably fight over who gets to play on it.

Just and update on the basement finishing - thank you to everyone that left comments about paint color!!  We want to stay away from white since its going to be a playroom and the thought of three small children down there with white walls makes me want to commit myself since the walls would be soooo dirty!  I think we found a nice light brown (so boring yet it goes with everything) and we are looking at carpet tomorrow.  If all goes well it should be finished late next week and I'll have my very own sewing nook in the back corner by the weekend!!  So very excited!!
