Tooth Fairy Pillow

I was texting with my SIL this evening and she told me that my (just turned) 5 year old niece has her first loose tooth.  I have been wanting to make a Tooth Fairy Pillow for a while and this was just the kick I needed to get going on one!!

I made this in a little over an hour and that includes finding the fabric in my garage since the basement is being finished at the moment, and doing not one but three different pockets since they kept messing up on me.

All and all I don't think my niece is going to be getting this one - but I've got the basics down to make a better one and get it to her in the next few days (hopefully!) before her tooth falls out.

Ugh, I wish my camera wasn't so temperamental and I wasn't so tired
otherwise I would totally take a crisper picture of this but I'm sure
you get my drift!!

I had to make sure that the money would fit in!! Although I'm pretty sure the Tooth Fairy gives out $5 for the first tooth these days!

I took pictures along the way and I might do a tutorial if anyone is interested.  It was super easy, I just need to 'professional' it up a little bit since it screams 'this is my first one!!' and since its a gift I want it to look a little prettier for my niece.

Matchbox Car Can Keeper

Yesterday Miss S and I made a Matchbox Car Can Keeper (try saying that 5 times fast!!) to keep the girls toy cars in.  Every once in a while I bust out the masking tape and make a roadway/city on the floor in the living room - the girls love it!!  I do find it funny that always play 'parking lot' or 'garage' rather than using the roads as roads but hey as long as they are playing and not watching TV I'm all over that!!

I recently just went through my humungous tub if dishwashing detergent and was left with this really big can.  Of course I could hear my husband yelling in my ear THROW IT OUT but I just couldn't - it was screaming to be made into something cool.  Originally I had thought it would be cool to make a prettied up garbage can for my sewing room but then I took one look at the 10 matchbox cars on my living room floor and decided that the cars needed a better home than my garbage!!

I took the can and measured out enough fabric to hot glue gun and wrap the entire can and have a little space left over on the top and bottom to finish the edges off.  Miss S helped me smooth the edges out with the popsicle sticks that are to the right (pay no attention to the gong-show mess thats happening on the left hand side of my kitchen island).

There is plenty of room for more cars - I figure once we organize the toy room in the basement we'll find at least 10 more cars in the depths of the toy bins!

The completed Car Can Keeper!!

So far after a day of the girls playing with it, its still in once piece!!

Yippie - Day 7 of blogtoberfest is done!!  24 more days to go - good thing I keep adding to my blogtober list otherwise I'd be drawing a blank in a few days!!   I keep getting messages from other bloggers that are doing Blogtoberfest and its AWESOME to know there are others out there like me with their lists and I'm not the only one out there thats not ashamed to admit it!!

Bean Bag!!

I started off this evening making a pillowcase dress for Miss L to match her big sisters dress I made last night but procrastination got the best of me and I wound up searching blog land and Etsy to avoid the dress (its not hard to make I just wasn't in a dress kind of mood).  I stumbled onto a cute little tutorial for making bean bags...!  What kid doesn't love to toss around a bean bag?!?

DISCLAIMER - I grew up in a house where throwing things inside was forbidden - even now I think its a great rule to have for the house and one that I do enforce with my kids (and husband!).   That being said I can't see the harm in the girls lobbing these around the living room into laundry basket or something like that.  I stuffed them with poly pellets rather than actual beans in case the girls want to take them outside and play and I don't have any beans in my house at the moment.

This took a whopping 15 minutes or so to make and I used scraps from Miss L's dress that I haven't made yet!

I think the girls are going to love it - now I need to make more than one or they will probably fight over it!!  Plus I can see myself playing with them when the girls have gone to bed......opps was that my outside voice?!?!?

I think Miss L and Little Dude are going to have a full supply of these in the very near future (perhaps some cousins too!?!) - I just need to find some different ribbon since the stuff I used is all the ribbon I seem to have in my house.   Seems like an excuse to go shopping to me!  ;)
