Yummy Dinner Tuesday!

I'm trying to get back into Blogging since I've been horrible at it the last few months.  Between getting NO sleep (I love my kids but they had me out of bed SIX times last night between the hours of 12:30 and 6:00am - mommy is gonna live on some caffeine today!!) and having a baby that sometimes boarders on being colicky my blogging/sewing/(non existent)free time has taken a back seat to pretty much everything.

Today I am celebrating the small victories: I have a delicious and nutritious dinner cooking in the crock pot right now and we aren't going to eat a pre-packaged frozen dinner or grabbing fast food tonight!

Its not much, just some stewing beef, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms and a few stalks of celery; but its been cooking now for a half an hour and it already smells pretty heavenly in here!

I might even tackle some bread this afternoon if the kids are being somewhat well behaved - or I'll just boot them into the backyard to play when I attempt the bread thing; if not I can save that for another day!

Maybe, just maybe I'll even be able to attack one or two things at my sewing machine this afternoon.  I have the Tumbling Rubies quilt and the Eye Spy quilt that I'm really looking forward to finishing and being able to use!


****I don't want people to think that I don't actually cook - I really do! Its just that I'm trying to make myself see the small victories and be happy/proud of what I actually do get accomplished during the day (which sometimes feels like NOTHING!) rather than feeling like I'm just spinning my wheels getting nothing done.****

Tumbling Rubies - Quilt Sandwich'ed!

YEAY!   My Tumbling Rubies Quilt is finally starting to look (and feel) like a real quilt!  

Last night I hunkered down and set about to start the tedious task of completing the quilt sandwich; so with my iTunes going, a full glass of coke and a bowl of chips nearby I got to work taping, smoothing, and pinning.....and pinning....and pinning.....!

I've got the top pinned, cut to size and ready to be machine quilted.  As much as I would LOVE to do some free motion quilting I think I'll keep it simple and let the fabric and the tumblers be the stars of this quilt.

I think that it will be a great lap size quilt - about 32 inches by 45 inches when the binding is done.  Perfect for snuggling under while watching TV or reading a good book or during a little cuddle time with the kids!  

Hopefully the kids will cooperate at bedtime over the next little bit and I can move this quilt from the WIP pile to the FINISHED list!!  

Almost back into the swing of things!!

Spring is here and I am almost back in Action!!  I had my 'mini-surgery' earlier this week and its been so nice to be able to see almost perfectly again!

I can't wait to get back to spending some quality time with my sewing machine - I did manage to get the quilt sandwich done for the Tumbling Rubies quilt but I haven't uploaded the pictures from my camera  yet.

Hopefully I'll be able to update the blog by the end of this weekend with some quilting/sewing goodness and pictures!!

I'm Back - Briefly!! ;)

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how funny it is that I do a post about finding a new addiction and then I do NOT blog for almost an entire month!  I need to clarify that I haven't been pinning everything that I can get my hands on - I promise!

I've actually had a pretty rough time with my eye the past month (somehow I managed to have a Corneal Abrasion - my cornea was swollen and almost infected - not fun) and doing anything on my sewing machine just made my eye really really sore.  Thankfully after 4 eye doctor's visits and two different medications it looks like I'm finally on the mend and might actually be able to get back to sewing in the next few days.

Thank you for sticking with me in my absence the last month - hopefully Google Friend Connect will still bring you here - I love my visitors.  I'm hoping to get back into the sewing swing of things soon and be able to finish up quite a few of my WIPs.

A New Addiction.....

I'm not sure how I managed to avoid it for so long, but I finally broke down and joined.....

Oh my goodness - there is so much......goodness on there!!  That being said I can totally see how it could be an epic epic EPIC time waster.  I love the idea of being able to keep all the stuff I want to make/create/craft/bake/cook/ and anything else I want to do all in one place - BUT I don't want to spend all my time 'pinning' at the computer and not actually 'creating'.  

I've already got some quilting ideas 'pinned' and a few other things that I can't wait to try.

If you haven't checked it out, its totally worth a look see but be careful it can get addictive!!  ;)  I'd love to see everyones boards if they have already set up a Pinterest account, and if anyone wants to see what I've got on the go so far please send me a message and I'll add you to my followers.  

Now I'm off to bed since I was up on Pinterest wayyyyy too late last night - I figure the first time on the site I'm allowed to get a little carried away and I will use some restraint from now on!  ;)

A little more Eye Spy Goodness.....

Another day and I managed to get another few minutes of sewing in - every little bit counts right?!?!?  At least thats what I keep telling myself!

I got 28 more Eye Spy squares done with a little help from Miss S.

I think all together I have somewhere between 60-80 squares completed so far. 

I'll lay them all out tomorrow and see how many more I need to have done to make even rows and start the squaring up process so I can start sewing the rows together.  Originally I wasn't going to square each one up but I know that some of my seams are off so I might as well do it RIGHT the first time rather than just winging it and hating what I have done.  

Day 15 of the Quiltapotamus 365 Project is in the books - not bad if I say so myself!!

Thank goodness its Friday!!  What a week and after tonight I'm ready for the weekend!!

So that being said lets say "TGIAS"!!  Thank Goodness Its Almost Saturday and head to bed!!  ;)

Sorry for the random 'extra' posts the last few days - trying to be as true as possible to my Quiltapotamus 365 Project and I'm grasping at straws today!!   My wonderful Mom and her husband are taking the girls this weekend so we can get some serious cleaning and organizing done without having two 'helpful' little girls underfoot.  I'm hoping that I can get an hour or two at my sewing machine in to work on the Eye Spy quilt or at least something sewing related and then I can share it with everyone!

Random Cuteness!

I can't believe that Baby C will be 6 months old in 3 more weeks!!  Hes getting to be soooo big!!

He tried out the jolly jumper this afternoon and LOVED it!!

No sewing or cleaning on the horizon today - just hanging with my kidlets and playing - the rest can wait for another day......

Ahhhhh - its a MESS!!!

How oh how did I go from this incredibly beautiful, peaceful, serene space:

Well for starters I guess it doesn't help that we had to bring a couch and treadmill down into the space so that adds a bit to the clutter and I guess it helps that I've actually been SEWING!!  I have a few projects on the go but I think my absolute next project needs to be to clean this mess up.....!!  And you can't even see the stuff thats hiding behind the Tumbling Rubies quilt top on the treadmill (and yes, I need to start running again soon but thats a different post for a different day!!!).

I can't expect it to stay spotless - I'd love to say that I'm a super neat freak but thats just soooooo not me - but I would love to be able to walk into my sewing room and think 'ahhhh, this is a nice space to create in'.  So tomorrow I'll add 'clean and organize sewing room' to my list of stuff to do and hopefully I'll have a clean and organized space to sew in tomorrow night!
